Check with Midwest super cub for a full clutch setup. And I think all the parts are still available from cub.

Service manuals in the tech section will walk you right through it. Good luck! As stated, MWSC has full clutches. So do at least one of the sponsors at the top (IH Cub Cadet Parts), along with CCC.
BTW, I think you mis-typed your heading. They didn't start making the 582's until 1979. You perhaps have a 1984? |

Hello, check out Lakota Racing or Zack Kerber Machine, they make the clutch and a lot of other cub parts, good prices too. Mike

Probably wouldn't hurt to pull the engine out, remove the tins and give it a good cleaning while you have it that far apart.

Agree with SamMac you might be surprised how much gunk accumulates under those tins.

You should remove the clutch from your tractor.Makes it easy to replace the throw out bearing and inspect the driveshaft for wear.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
