Looks like you are missing the teaser spring between the disc and the throwout lever.

I think thats correct for a original. The teaser I think under that collar. It's been a while since I had an O clutch apart. Here's the link. http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=c...&dn=0118500010

Download the service manual. Page 16 has a good cross section of the clutch

I'd go used before I tried a hardware store spring for that particular application. |

i should have been more clear, i work in a mold shop and we have springs that go into the molds. they vary from ranges of 10 lb springs to 400 ton springs! so i was going to cut one and maybe use that. any idea of pressure requirements?

This is the Cub part number. Cub Cadet 932-3017 (replaces 732-3017) Spring, Clutch Release. I have no idea what the specs are. You may want to call the local Cub dealers. When I lived in CT I used to buy my parts from Newtown Power Equipment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
