Default New from Tennessee

I'm a caretaker for a 2145 not sure what year. Is probably 20 years old.

I'm looking forward to this Cub. Will let my 1966 john deere with round fender semi-retire.

Hope I am on right site

John

Welcome, John.

You are in the right place for all things Cub Cadet, form the IH made original model through the current MTD made machines.

Put on the coffee, pull up a chair and stay awhile. This is the most friendly and knowledgeable group around anywhere. If you have an issue with your Cub, someone or several someone's will suggest a fix for you.

John:

I'm not familiar with the 2145, however, Some cubs have a sequence of controls to use in order to mow in reverse, particularly the newer MTD-made Cub Cadets.

All Cub Cadets are in the discussion but MTD makes all of them now. The only place to see the MTD name I believe is on the serial number tag. Yes the older Cubs are our favorite. If you want a short history Wikipedia of course but here is a place, just go to the Cub Cadet heritage and timeline link.

Also welcome to the legal system. Yep a 2145 will kick out the PTO when you put it in reverse. Can you bypass it yes, can we tell you how to do it NO.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
