So I'm starting my 782 rebuild. Pulled the engine a couple fenders and the seat. Thought the engine was seized because I couldn't turn it but put a light extra into and and it budged. Guess it was just stuck and now it moves with no problem. I think I may completely tear down the series I clean it and give it a nice paint job. When I have it apart and if it doesn't seem to be worth rebuilding what is a good donor for the 782? As I pull it more apart I posted updated pictures.

Looks like a good start!
![]() A M18 is a common replacement for the kt series one or you could put a series 2 in it.

Had a couple hours to spend on the 782 this weekend and made some decent progress. Pretty much have it down to frame. Only thing I think I have left on there is the lift which I may just keep on there. Just going to give it a thorough cleaning and maybe some fresh paint. Can or should the lift be able to be moved if its completely torn down? I tried moving it and it won't move at all! I was also thinking while I have it torn down of putting in the two front ports, does anyone have any pictures of theres or a how to?
Not the most ideal work conditions but I dont take the time to clean up and make a nice setup for myself. Just want to jump right into the cub! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
