The choke cable on my 800 was getting "sticky", so I sprayed some PB Blaster down the cable just behind the knob and worked the cable a few times.
Followed that with some silicone spray. Had to use that little straw that comes with the PB Blaster to get the stuff down inside the cable assembly.

If the cable has the plastic coating, they make a special tool that you hook the spray tube to and work the cable as you spray. They work very well. If it still has the exposed metal coils, then spraying all over while working the handle works best.

I took the throttle and choke linkages loose on my 107 and I'd drip 5 drops of oil down the business end, then work the throttle or choke back and forth a few times, then I'd hit it again with more 3-in-1. I bet I spent the better part of an hour doing that. For some reason, PB Blaster and WD-40 wouldn't soak in when I sprayed it on. Not sure why. The 3-in-1 got it though.

STRANGE the PB Blaster didn't do the job? ![]() I had a throttle cable that had a little something that seemed it might develop to a problem in the future? It was like a bit of a hang up mid way from slow to fast. So besides spraying iinto the cable itself with PB Blaster, I sprayed the snot of the ENTIRE cable & let it sit over night. did it again the next day with my wife slowly moving the control back & forth. Its smooooooooooooth as silk now. ![]() Nik,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
