Default 122 serial number location?

I'm not sure if my 122 ever had a serial plate, or where it was if it even had one. Can anyone tell me where it might have been located? Also, are there any identifying features/differences between the two (?) years it was made?

Mine is very plain-jane. No headlights. No creeper. No supercharger...

What all options were available on a 122?

Thanks folks!

Jim

Jim,
I believe the serial is on a pad on the very back of the transmission....it might be covered by some sheet metal.

It should be on a metal plate located on the top rear or left side rear of the transaxle housing on a small square in the same area.

there are 2 locations they put the serial #s on 122 one is a plate riveted on a plate on the transmision above the fill plug below the seat or if that is gone should be stamped in the transmision on the left side if you are facing the tractor from behind under the fenders might be coverd in crud
would love to know what the serial # is i also have a 122 made feburary of 1966

thanks thad

Thanks all.
I found this in the manual. Mine doesn't have a plate in the lower location. Hopefully there is one in the other (top of tranny) location. I haven't pulled the sheet metal yet so I don't know.

This thread may be old but it just saved me so much frustration. I looked everywhere, or so I thought, for the serial number on my 122. I even cleaned the trans with lacquer thinner but nothing to be found. I took the seat and rear sheet metal loose and sure enough there it was on top of the rearend housing. 142413 by the way.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
