Jeff122-
I got a set of 5-rib Vredestein V61 tires and tubes for my 82s for $83 shipped from www.tiresunlimited.com . From what I've heard, they're less likely to tear up your lawn than the 3-rib 'stones and have gotten rave reviews at the green site and across the street. Not to mention they're much cheaper. I can't wait to get home in May and mount them. |

Thanks Matt. I saw those tires advertised somewhere. I'm going for the old farm tractor look. And my 122 doesn't have a mower deck, nor do I have a lawn. But as always, your knowledge and input are very helpful. It was suggested to change over to 4.00 x 8 rims and maybe find tri ribs cheaper. I have no idea how much those rims are or how hard they are to find. Any thoughts on that?

I bet you won't have too much trouble trying to find a set of rims...put a want ad in the classifieds.
BTW, older farm tractors with wide front tires do not have tri-rib tires for the most part, they have 4 or 5-rib tires very similar to the V61s. ![]() I'm not sure why this tractor is painted black instead of red, but you get the idea... |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
