OK guys, I know most of you know by now, I HAD a john deere 216. Well, I found a guy in KY who loves the green things and he had a cub 109. We swapped pics and I was excited to go get it. So I left work, came home hooked the trailer up, and struck off thinking I'm getting a 109 for a JD (talk about no sleep since 1030pm Friday nite). Judging by the pics it was a sweet little tractor. But when I got there, he had it tore down to the frame (bummer) was making a puller out of it. I got the hydro rearend, a straight shift rear-end, all the sheet metal, starter generator, & a opposed twin. I was a little upset that he gave away the Kohler and the deck and stripped everything i can use off it. But got some good parts for frames. I drove 3.5hrs one way, so 7hrs total for a parts frame basically. All good though.

you said you got an opposed twin? That could be worth the trip alone if it's the right motor, glad you saved it either way though!

So then, what your saying is that he showed you a picture of a complete IH Cub Cadet 109? Then when you got there it was a missing basket case? So then why did you trade if the tractor did not match the picture?
I would have not made the deal if that was the case, and kept the green tractor, providing we know what condition the green tractor was in? A lot of unknown variables left out it this jibberish story,....... sorry, I don't know to congrat you on the story swap, or boo you for being foolish.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
