Adjusting valves and timing,
Can someone on here tell me where i can learn these techniques . I am about to take the k series out of my Cubs and put predator engines in because of the simplicity and price if i cant get them running smoothly.

Valve clearance adjustment. You remove the breather off the side of the engine. You rotate the crankshaft until the valve is fully closed. Using the correct size feeler gauge, slide it in between the valve and camshaft tappet. If it's out of spec, using two open end wrenches ( one on the adjusting nut on the tappet and the other on the tappet itself ) , turn it a slight amount and re check.  (click for big pic ) For setting the timing, I use a timing light. There is a little cap that pops off on the starter/generator side of the engine on the flywheel sheetmetal cover. The timing light is pointed in there and it flashes as the engine is running. You adjust the points ( keep the screws snug and gently pry using the notches on the points ) to get the light so the stamped letter on the flywheel is centered in that opening. Look up the specs in the manual which you can do here. Any questions, don't be afraid to ask.
