1450 brakes
hello , today I went and picked up my 2nd 1450 which is obviously and older model than the other one I have ,and I noticed it has exterior brake setup .
why is there two styles? was it just a mid production change? or was it for specific duties? thanks mike

Internal/external brakes where kind of an option. The books just say that the machine could have either style. No serial number breaks, or anything indicating that they could be ordered either way. Just that the machine could have either style. Personally, I prefer the external brake. Just because it gives you more options and they are easier to work on.

IH used two styles of brakes, being: Internal (or wet brake) or External.
Of the external type, they used three different vendors. Although the mounting was all the same, the brake parts are specific to the vendor style. When repairing or servicing the external brake system, pay attention to vendor style to order any needed parts. There is no specific information as to when IH used either internal or external brakes, nor which vendor they used for external brakes. I am guessing, that if they had a good supply of a particular vendor on hand, that is what was installed on the tractors as they rolled down the line.
