Hi folks. Haven't posted for a while, hope everyone is doing well. I was trying to order the "muffler crutch" from kirkengines.com, which is really just a flat bar with angled ends, designed to help take the weight off of the muffler box and distribute it to the frame, preventing damage to the muffler. The price is $20 and I thought it would be a good idea, but I contacted them over a week ago and have not heard anything back.
Has anyone tried one of these, or had success in ordering from that site? The piece looks easy to make, and I figured some of you have made your own. If they don't get back to me, I may be looking for someone to make me one. Thx. Josh |

I put the David Kirk muffler crutch on my 1250 Nightmare. After doing so, I used J.B. Weld to fix the aluminum frame that the exhaust box is mounted to,. It must work, because the repair is still holding as it was repaired, and there has been no further damage to either the aluminum frame or the muffler box itself.
David sells his Cub Cadet stuff as a week-end business, but he will contact you or send your parts as you ordered. He is a good guy, a great resource and has forgotten more about a Kohler k-series engine than I can ever attempt to know. Good luck with your project. |

Here's my thread on this subject. Roland sent me the measurements to make my own.
It was easy enough to build. Good luck ![]() http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=20547

Dave Kirk has a real job and his Cub Parts business is a sideline or weekend business. He is an engineer by trade and whatever he sells, is researched, tested, and top notch. I have never heard any negative comments about him or his business. He will send you what you order.

Thanks for the help guys. Dave did get back to me after I emailed him again. He said that my first order request must not have gone through. I guess shipping went up to $7, from $4 as posted on the website.
Thx for the print, Zip ... I may get one of my friends to just make me one. Josh |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
