Default 122 Battery Strap from Scrap

Thank you to the member who pointed me in the right direction for battery installation. Now that I had the correct orientation, I needed a tie down. PO had a bungee cord. My son and I are having a blast just picking little projects to slowly bring her back to life. We got some good use out of it today pulling the trailer around cleaning the neighbors sidewalks. Some might frown on this, but the clutch switch was bypassed when we got it. For now I am leaving it alone. Calvin can start it in 1st gear at idle (slooowww) and follow me around, and simply shut it off when he gets where I need the dump cart. He can't quite reach the pedals... Here are some pictures of the homemade battery strap. I cut it out of a piece of 2x2 alum. extrusion. Bolts were made from some 1/4-20 all-thread.

Good for you. I have made a few battery straps or brackets myself. Just as good as the OEM or even better. I not worried about being PC.

That looks good Now it has the correct ( factory ) orientation.

On my manual lift 125 ( described that way since I have hydraulic lift 125 also ), the battery wing nuts lept loosening up. I went to the local hardware store and picked up two nylon 1/4-20 wingnuts. Now they stay tight.

Good work on the hold down. One further thing I have done to keep corrosion at bay is take a bicycle inner tube and cut three strips. Two the height of the battery and one the length of the battery. Cut them open and put two at the back corners of the battery and one under the new hold down strip. I even made a rubber mat for the bottom under the battery from an old car floor mat. Now my battery sits on and against rubber. It keeps down corrosion and the chance of rubbing the paint.

Your little helper can't reach the clutch pedal? I was 5 yrs. old when my Dad got his 100, to which he made two modifications so I could play with it. He copied the clutch pedal, just the tread surface and the 90* bend and bolted that to the existing pedal. His other mod was an aluminium shift gate so I only had 1st and reverse that located and fastened to the tractor via the seat spring bolts. I know your 122 has a different seat configuration, but you could do something similar for your little guy so he could get some more seat time.

There are pictures somewhere of both items. I'll see if my 'rents can pass them on so I can share.
