today, finally i got my new Gas Tank Cap for my Cub Cadet 782.
It's a 2 1/4 x 9 inch, (23,5 cm), from Gasket to the End of the Gauge, the Original Cap from my 782 is 27 cm long, and my Gas Tank is 33 cm deep. The Gas Tank Cap is from ebay, from Randy's Engine Repair. My Question: is this the right lenght for my Cub, or must i have a longer one? My old Cap is working fine, but, the Glass is missing, and the Gauge is not good to read now. thanks, mfg Georg ![]()

The new gas cap on my 782 is roughly 10" from gasket to the end. It was purchased from a cub dealer.

![]() ![]() The one you bought from Randy's Engine Repair is the incorrect Gas Gauge. The correct gauge is: 751-0226A. This supplier is not really a Lawn & Garden Tractor Supplier, nor offers anything for Cub Cadet. It will work OK... BUT... It will show you that you are low on fuel before you actually are.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
