Hey fellers. Got a pretty simple question for ya. It pertains to my newly purchased 1250. Hydro. I was wanting to know if there is a top fill hole for the hydro fluid? I have tunnel cover off and was looking but didnt see anything that looked like it may come off and allow a funnel to fill. I really hope I do not have to refill this thing from the rear cover hole. Its going to suck to put almost 2 gal of fluid through that little hole with no air relief other than back through the funnel. If I do have to fill through that hole does anyone have any "tricks" to make it easier?
Thanks all John |

No there isn't. The only fill hole is on the back plate. I use a funnel with either a flex neck or a long tapered neck and fill a little at a time. I pull the funnel out when I believe it is close to full and see if it runs back out, then I know it is full.

another option is to use one of those little hand transfer pumps.

You CAN pull the fenders and fill it through the large cover on the top of the rear. But if you are buying by the quart I just use the tip off a gear oil bottle and squeeze it in the back cover

In the last few years I have taken to buying oil in 5 gallon buckets.
To dispense oil into anything Cub, I pour it off into 2 liter soda bottles and use the tops from those tall skinny quart oil botles like 80/90 gear lube comes in. It works great and I almost never spill any.

Go to a store that sells marine products. They have a hand pump that screws onto a quart bottle. I buy 2 gallon jugs of tractor oil from tractor supply.

Ok thanks guys.
Would it be possible to remove the two pressure relief valves on the top and fill through them? Thanks again John |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
