Talking It lives

I had about two hours to kill last week, so I played and hooked up jumper cables to the Cub. The first positive sign it cranked & sputtered. I cleaned the carb, plug, and drained fuel tank of stale gas, & refilled. Two shots of starting fluid & it fired up. !'m needing choke & throttle cables + motor coupling this will get it ready for work ( childs play)

Congratulations on its new re-vival! Looks like it is wanting to be put back into service and with a little TLC, that should be quite soon. Look what you accomplished in just a short time!!

When driving the tractor i noticed a very sloppy steering , is the steering box adjustable for free play? Also the clutch / break is not operational pop it in gear & it takes off with a wheel stand strong enough to crack my back! ( no need to go to the back breaker any more just jump on the cub & make it go) i think the clutch is stuck or shot any opinions?

Could be that the discs are stuck, but I wouldn't be popping it into gear regularly without a clutch, you'll end up with bigger problems.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
