Default Sleeve hitch for 1872

What do you need to put a sleeve hitch on a 1872 with alum rear end?

I think Allen put a rear lift with Brinly hitch on his 1872. I think he had the rear swapped out to a cast iron one though. Hopefully somebody else has done this and will jump in.

I'm not sure, if you can use the sleeve hitch setup with the aluminum rear end. My aluminum one was swapped out with a cast iron tranny last Summer. Here's a pic.

The sleeve hitch can be used on an aluminum rear, you just need the correct bracket on the lower part. Extrememotorworks makes it, and I believe JeffinPa on this site does too.

I have one on my 1811 with an aluminum rear and the secret is to get the lower bracket that wraps around and uses two of the axle bolts along with the rear plate bolts. As mentioned above xtreme has them for aluminum rears. I would also recommend the double eared model where the rear pins go into the lower holes. This will allow you to use hitch pins instead of a long bar which cannot be removed or installed with out taking one rear tire off. The picture below is one with the single long bar instead of the two hitch pins. I have since replaced it with the double eared model lower bracket that wraps around to the axle bolts.

If your going to put a sleeve hitch on an aluminum rear I strongly recommend that you get it from Xtreme and also get the SGT rearend brace. Talk to Aaron in person when you order it because he can move the tabs that bolt to the axle tubes out an extra 3/8" on each side to clear the thickness of the SGT brace. He has already done one like this for me that I put on a 1572.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
