Default Carburator body repair???

The carburetor body on my Original is broke where the air cleaner bolts on. see picture. It is a bit hard to see but right where the air cleaner meets the carb, very dark spot broken exposing internal threads.

It doesn't effect the use of the carburetor but doesn't allow for a complete seal between the carburetor and air cleaner.

I'm assuming there is no way to fix this. Any solutions???

A well placed swipe of JB Weld may do the trick, it'd be worth a try. Clean the area as best you can, apply JB Weld, let sit overnight, then smooth it out in the morning. Worth a shot I suppose. But if there's a better answer, someone here will know it

I was also thinking.

J B Weld should seal it but I don't know about holding it. Is that a home made brace for the air cleaner?

No, that is the factory brace for an oil bath air cleaner.

Weld it is the best solution....that or replace it. I didn't know that you could weld the carbs until I met a professional welder who is also a tractor puller. he's really good at what he does and told me that his friend blew his engine up and blew the ears off of a very expensive carb. He asked his friend what he was going to do with the carb and he said junk it because it was useless now, so he asked his friend for it. His friend asked him what he wanted it for and he said I'm going to weld the ears back on and use it. Well, his friend said no you're not, I'm going to do that! Long story short (too late) some really good welders can fix it, but I'm not a welder.

I am not a big JB Weld fan, yes I do keep some on hand, just not a big fan...

In your case I believe I would try it, as long as the gasket between the elbow and the carb is good, the JB Weld won't be able to stick to the elbow, I would just pack the void full.

You will probably want to take the screw out and put something on it to keep the JB Weld from sticking to it then put it back before you pack it full.

I've got two O's here with the oil bath but neither have that brace. Could I see a pic of it? I thought that was a lot of weight to be hanging off there. This has it and still broke.

Here are two photo's from different angles showing the brace.
There is the brace that goes from the top of the oil bath air cleaner to the motor as well as a bracket that comes off the top of the oil bath air cleaner and angle down a bit that holds the choke cable.

Could try some JB weld putty in a round tube,hardens fast so be sure your area is clean and dry and rough it up some if you can so it has something to grab onto. Knocked a hold in a transfer case once,thats what I used to patch it. Worked fine. Worth a try!

Would you guys suggest jb weld or regular weld to fix a worn hole for the throttle shaft I know a thrust washer is the way to go but not sure where to buy them
