I've searched hi and low and cant seem to be able to find a complete sleeve hitch with electric actuator so I decided to build my own. In doing so I thought there may be a market for a bolt on sleeve hitch so I decided to do a little market research.

I kinda think that's high for a sleeve hitch. You can buy a cat 0 3pt new for $485. Why would you make it electric? The 1811 has hydraulic lift for the sleeve hitch.

I based my price on the fact that people pay aprox $250.00 plus for a manual sleeve hitch so I believe its in what the market will bear also its based on anticipated manufacturing cost. If you buy the cat 0 you still have to buy the sleeve hitch adapter which means your end cost goes up. Plus you have to paint. Isn't the 485.00 a sale price? and your tied in with your only lift capabilities, I like the idea of being able to operate front and rear implements separately. for most the cat 0 is over kill for general yard use (In my humble opinion, I don't mean to degrade the cat 0 hitch in any way its a great hitch) Plus the availability isn't there for the sleeve hitch and all the nessary parts for the mtd/cub cadet, not that I could find anyway.

Sam, great idea! I don't mean to knock your hitch. I prefer to have downward force for a rear blade also a more compact design.

I don't know why people want down pressure.... It isn't necessary, plus, it just takes away traction. A properly set blade, with a good cutting edge doesn't need down pressure. If your having trouble, add weight to the blade.
Anyway, I'm not saying don't build your own hitch to your specs. That's what we all do, build something the way WE want it. I'm just not sure there will be much of a market for selling them, that's all. |

Doesn't Johnny products make this already. Isn't it about $600

If you sold a setup that included a brinly adapter and an actuator as well as a mounting point that replaced the lift link for the narrow frames i think you could sell it for 2-300 and still make money

They do and yes its more expensive. I looked at theirs awhile ago but thought that was to much money. It looks like they use some stamped metal for the frame work which is a lot cheaper to make their price, must be based on the fact that nobody else makes one so they can get what they want for them? Thanks P.S. where did you get yours for 115.00? what a deal! got a picture?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
