Hi I'm Joe I'm new to the forum. I just got my first Cub Cadet the other day! I got it for FREE from dgrapes59! He found it on CL near me in Indiana and wanted to buy it for the lift and a couple of other small things. Anyway I went and picked it up for him and voila! I'm here! It's a '68 125 that came with a blade. The guy we got it from for $200 was saving it from another guy who was going to scrap it. I brought it home dgrapes59 came over and we started tinkering..... Put a battery, plug, oil, fresh gas, and a couple of loaner tires on it. It started right up! Believe it or not it runs and drives great! I'm super hooked now. He has taken me to some IH shows in the past and we have had a lot of fun, but it sure is nice to have one now. Sorry I can't figure out how to rotate the pic

That was a tremendous save from the scrap yard. Like my old man's generation,....they tossed everything away like dummies! Time and time again I'm thrilled when a story like this comes along " and I cant believe it fired right up!" those will get you hooked on a great purposeful hobby!
Yupper, the young fellow is gonna lay claim to that puppy, looks like you might need one for yourself along the way! Welcome to the forum ![]()

Thank you sir. I have 2 boys that are "claiming" it already lol! The 9 year old wont stop sitting on it and he is begging to drive it. After some fluid changes, a degreasing and some lubrication maybe!

I am not sure who had the bigger smile- me, Joe or the boys, we were all pretty thrilled when it fired up and drove like a champ! Always fun to share a hobby with family and hopefully keep interest in these ole garden tractors! There is likely a Cub Cadet or two waiting for the boys down the road.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
