I've found out there are TWO best cubs! They are either Yellow & white OR Red! Also it's nice to have one for each attachment your going to use!

I personally love my 149. It will do anything I ask of it. It is more refined than the narrow frames but is still ruggedly dependable. This is just my fav of the ones I have but really they're all good.

That is so true.

Actually there are probably as many answers to the original question as there are Cubs. Whatever the reason, everyone has their favorite.

I figured CubCrazy would say that. I really like the mid sixties machines because they are built like tanks. I like the 70s machines for the bit of refinement over the early ones but once you sit on a SUPER you are truly in love with the power and comfort they provide.

My favorites are probably the supers and diesels and 169's and 800's but I like them all!

I personally have a cub for about any task that needs doing. And I like them all. I think the 82 series cubs are all around the easiest to work on if a problem arises. 82 series with hydraulics would be my pick.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
