Default Replacing manual lift release button

My manual lift button broke at the point it narrows down so the float button can engage it. So it's down inside the lift arm. Looking for suggestions on how to proceed.

That SUCKS! At this point.... no ideas. I'll have to sit on a bucket and think about that for a bit. Anyone else?

I've got the entire apparatus still mounted on a 1200 frame that you're welcome to if that helps you at all.

You might as well take this offer. It is probably your best option. I had that happen to me before and although it isn't easy to replace, it is the easiest option that I found. I drove my cub so that the front tires were on my trailer and the rear ones were on the ground. Then I removed the ramps and CHOCKED THE REAR TIRES...so the cub doesn't move. In fact, chain the cub to the trailer for added safety (now I think of that...). This will give you added clearance for removing that manual lift rod and replacing the other. Another option would be to take it to a garage that has a pit to it.

I just noticed your cub is without an engine and hood/grill. I'd just lift it up and chain the front end to a tree or the rafters of my garage and swap out the manual lift arm.

I'm not exactly sure what model he is working on. Are the manual lift handles all the same?

No they are not. Good eye, I overlooked that aspect--sorry. He is working on a WF (wide frame) model 108 or 109. Is yours a WF also? If not, then our sponsors at the top have that part.

I'll take you up on that, domestic and all. Sent you a PM. Yeah, I'm working on a 108.

Isn't that lift button screwed to the top of the internal rod?

I tried to remove the roll pin through the lift arm casting (holding it to the rockshaft) but without much luck. If I get a replacement arm, I can cut it off if I can't drill the pin out. I do have a couple solid carbide drill bits I haven't tried yet...

Looked up the lift for a 108 on the Cub parts site. The button is screwed to the rod. Can you get the rod out of the arm from the bottom?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
