Default Parts help request

I'm trying to figure out a coupe of bits of information on the following two items for my 149;
1) The Hood latch spring for the right side. Both are missing and the Cub Cadet parts look-up only shows the Left side. For some reason they seem to have overlooked including the Right side in the parts schematic. Does anyone have a part number for this?

Also, I'm interested to know exactly how these mount and if they do a good job. On my 125 I removed the hood altogether because of the rattling. Even with the latches they came with didn't help.

2) For the optional float lock out pin. This too is unavailable but I'm interested in fabricating one up. I would really love to see an image of this part installed if anyone has one.

Thank You

If mounted correctly the hood latches should work well. On my 147 they eliminate vibration noise.

The spring clip that holds the hood on the 149 works pretty well. It does not eliminate all rattles, so you should use some sort of gasket to cushion the metal to metal contact areas. I'm no help on the part numbers, but here is a pair: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cub-Cadet-14...item56564a9bac

The float lockout pin is available somewhere--I just can't remember where I've seen it. I made one using one I had as a template. Maybe someone else can remember the source.

None of the spring latches actually do anything on any of my Wide Frame tractors. They just set and rattle in their little perch on each side of the dash tower. I do however keep them in the latched position just to keep them from hanging down getting in the way of the front pto release handle/rod. I really don't notice any rattling from the hoods of them though. If I remember correctly, I tried to bend a pair of them so they would actually put a little pressure on the cross bar of the hood. But then they kept getting hung up under the cross bar every time the hood was closed and not let it go down all the way, pretty sure I bent them back the way they were.

On many of my narrow frame tractors, I have used bolts with lock nuts and nylon washers between the hood and grill shell to keep them quiet, sometimes it works very well, other times not so much. I rarely ever use the latches on the ones equipped with latches.

I found the parts (very reasonably priced too), but I thought I would post them so if anyone wanted to see what the original equipment lock out pin looks like, but also because these came to me as NOS parts which I thought was pretty cool. These things were on a shelf for decades waiting for me.

Same here, except I don't even bother to latch them. It makes no difference at all, at least in my experience.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
