Default My 127

I had a thread started on here but it is gone. Not sure what happened, but I was going to attach pictures and my computer crashed...So, if you are a purist, you may not want to see this.

Here is what the wiring harness looked like when I got hit home.

This is what it looked like when I figured out what was going on with it.

It is in the process of getting the loose linkage in the hydro fixed. I think its a 71 so its older than I am and I want it to run another 40ish years.

I am unclear if you are just posting or have an inquiry.

But, with regard to the Wiring, you have two options. (A) Build your own harness, or (B) purchase one.

A soldering iron and some shrink tube will have her right as rain in no time!

My 1650 looked about like that when it melted the ignition switch... About 3 hours later we were mowing again!

I love the 127. That's the first combustion powered vehicle I ever drove!

No questions, just showing what I have. Now the rear end is behind the tractor and the linkage is off and in my toolbox where I am going to "fix it" by welding and adding new springs.

I built a new harness for it already. It is back in and running. I want to fix the hydro before getting the Bosch coil and points saver. I eventually want to have efi and a turbo on it as it will be working year round from grass to snow.

Thats the plan. But, plans could change at any given moment. I have found kits for 250cc setups and there are some listed for smaller. I hope I would be able to use the smaller ones for it since it should not need a ton of fuel, even under boost. Then...there is the boost. I am debating which to do first. It is a cold blooded machine right now. I am going to time it when I get back down there and make sure it is right. I had it running at idle for about 5-7 minutes in the shop. You could walk in there (no air flow) and would never have known it was running so I am sure it is lean on the low end. I can fatten it up, but it would be nice to just hit the key and have it sipping fuel the right way.

Comment/question away. I always like the informed opinions of others. I can learn from their mistakes and build off of them too. I have nothing to hide and don't want people to think this is a joke...

I am still having computer problems so you will have to bare with me on this. This is what I built to fix the wiring harness problems.

I think it was just a bit more than heat shrink could handle.

Nice job on the harness! That series of cub is notorious for wire harness failures.

Build a Megasquirt for it!!! That would be the sweetest thing EVER!

----

Also... Nice work on the harness, but if you get the chance again pull those BS plastic tidbits off of the connectors, crimp them, flow solder into them, and shrink tube them back about 1"... That connection, short of mice or fire, will never fail again! If you really want to go for broke, flow liquid electrical tape over those connections at their outlets (switches, lights, whatever) and add weatherpak connectors up stream. I'm slowing doing that to the 1650 to make her wiring totally waterproof.

Good luck with it!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
