Default Stupidity at its greatest

I was selling a canoe for my uncle on craigslist. He won it at a raffle and never used it. We were selling it for $700.Last night a guy called me and asked if it was still for sale and I said that it was, he said he wanted to stop by and take a look and maybe buy it. Today after work I pulled the canoe of of the attic in our shed and polished it up. He asked for directions since he mixed them up and got lost. I gave him directions and waited until he came. He finally got there almost 30min late and shook my hand. He said that he would take the canoe for a dollar. I thought to my self what is he talking about and I said that I was asking for $700 and he said it said $1 on the ad and I told him that if he would've read closer he would have seen that I was asking $700 and he said thanks and left. It was a $1000 canoe! why in the world why I sell it for a dollar. some people just amaze me.

I have seen a lot of Craig's List Ads, where in the title of the Ad, it clearly states $1.00, but once you click on it and open the Ad up, there is a different price. I never understood the logic behind that tactic.

I've noticed the same thing myself a number of times, don't know what that's about and don't understand it.

When posting an ad on craigslist, if you do not enter a value in the price box, the system will automatically populate $1 in the price box...

allot of people put $1 in the price box because people will read the title, see $1 and it encourages people to open and read the ad.

In my world, I call that "Deceptive Advertising".

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
