Went to a farm sale and found this 682. There were three 82 series tractors, I thought this was the best out of the three so I bought it. It didn't run and had four flat tires. Got it home, threw the charger on it, changed the oil and cleaned the carb and we were touring the yard in about an hour. All the tires held air and it came with a really nice 44 inch deck. Starting to get into these twin Kohlers! What to do with it is the next question...

That should clean up nicely. Got any pictures of the deck?

No pics of the deck, I had to take the deck off yesterday to get the sucker loaded. Hard to get into a pickup with four flat tires and a deck dragging on the ground...

Thanks guys. I do have a #2 tiller that would mount up to this tractor but I have no sleeve hitch for an 82 series. Right now the tiller is on the 147. I'm sure it will become another mowing tractor for the moment. Might try and mount my blade up to it and see how it works.

Ryan,
Nice find on the 682. Series I or II? Looks like you're getting into the "newer" cubs, . Kinda looks like one of the 682's on CL a couple weeks ago. It was a package of 3 682's for a good price. Congrats on the new red cub.

Thanks all!
Josh, I seen those three you were talking about on CL. I think these are different. The others on CL looked a lot nicer than these I thought...this has the series II engine. It has a Walbro carb on it and it has some hesitation and surging when it's warming up but after that it runs great. I don't really know if I'm getting into the newer Cubs, just happened to run into the 782 at the right time and figured this 682 would go cheap, and boy did it go cheap! But of course, it and the few I have left are for sale for the right price ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
