Default IH 782 brake stuck

I picked up a 782 that would not roll. I gutted the rear end it had the worst looking goop I have ever seen stuck to the inside. It looks like the brake is stuck. Does anybody know how to get the pinion and the reduction gear out to clean the case and to free up the brake. Any help would be great.

If it's got "goop" in it... better get ready to go through it. You sure it's the brake? ... I'm assuming you have an older cast iron rear end.. Take the hydro off to get started. See if it will turn then.... sounds like it had water in it.

Differential has to come out to get the pinion and reduction gear out. Sounds to me like the brake puck is stuck - assuming you have an internal brake. If you plan on running through the rear end anyway, you can take the spider gears out to achieve mobility.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
