Hitch for 782?

I'm totally new, so please don't laugh. I did try to search these forums, but didn't find the answer to my question.

I just got a 782 with a mower. It has nothing for a rear hitch. What exactly do I need to get to put a rear hitch on this mower?

Sleeve hitch or 3-point hitch?

Will the hydraulics that raise/lower the mower deck work a rear hitch or would I need to install something additional to work a hitch?

I have a Sears disc and plow, but don't necessarily need to use them - I could sell the Sears equipment and search out some Cub stuff.

Mike what the serial number of your 782? Depending what it is it will tell us if you need a sleeve hitch set up or cat 0 setup.

If it has a cast iron rearend, you can put a sleeve hitch on it.
If it has an aluminum rearend, you can put a three point on it.

Actually, with modifications, either rearend type can have a sleeve hitch or three point added. There are guys out there making plates to add a three point to earlier cubs with cast iron rearends. Pics or serial number would help.

I have an 1811 with an aluminum rear and I put a sleeve hitch on it with no problems. I bought the two big bolts that fit into the two holes at the top sides of the frame rail from one of our sponsors and the hitch on ebay. You just have to make sure that you buy the correct arm that goes to the hydraulic actuator under the tranny cover. On some models the arm comes with a bushing for the hole and other arms come with small blocks drilled and tapped for the installation. I also went with Xtreme motor works's lower bracket for the hitch because it wraps around the rear end and has two holes for bolts that are for the axles and thus gives the aluminum rear a little more support for hard pulling.

See, I told you I was a newb. I didn't realize the different rear end affected what hitch to use. It's already dark, so I'll get a picture and serial numbers tomorrow. Thanks!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement on figuring out a rear hitch. Here's my tractor:

It has the series 2 engine (good)



It has an aluminum rear axle (not so good)



It runs great and I cut my yard with brand new blades yesterday -- I actually ENJOYED mowing the lawn. All in all it seems to be a great machine and a lot of fun to use.

As far as I know most of that hitch will work but the part in the yellow box is for a cast iron rear and you have the aluminum rear. Xtreme has a cool bottom hitch that you may want to look at.

From the picture above it looks like Xtreme's new bottom bracket will fit either cast or aluminum rears from the multiple holes in it plus the slotted hole on the bottom middle hole. Aaron seems to always be moving forward with his products. That hitch ball works out great because it is held in with a hitch pin and can be removed in about two seconds
