2009 sltx 1054 Transmission Whine/moan
Hello everyone,
I purchased a used 2009 CC sltx 1054 last summer that had close to 200hrs. When I depress the transmission pedal forward or reverse it makes a loud whining/moaning sound. Since I am not the original owner of this mower, I'm not sure if this is normal. It doesn't seem to pose a problem with the operation of the mower, but I don't want to ruin the machine. Thanks for your help!

Have you ever owned a hydrostatic drive machine before? .... A little whine is normal.... It's hard for us to tell if a noise is normal. On that new of a machine, the trans is probably not serviceable anyway. If your not familiar with a hydro, I'd say what your hearing is normal. Just my 2 cents....

With the engine wide open, mower deck on, at 1/4 mile, through the woods, you can only hear this ones transaxle SCREAMING!!
  I do not worry about it, the sound has been the same for the many years I have owned it!!
