have found a Cub 147 on Craigslist for $275.00. Guy says it runs great but needs a starter gen, which he has. My understanding on these is they came with an electric lift and headlights. This one has neither. Was the first production run of these with a manual lift? He said the headlight was removed by the person he bought it from.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he's right, the 147 was the first Cub to come standard with electric lift. So if the PO took the headlights off, he may very well have taken the electric lift off. Again, if I'm wrong, someone please chime in.

The 147 came from the factory with the electric lift and headlights.

They did come with headlights and electric lifts. The e lifts were prone to crapping out so many of them are gone. Mine is on my 147. The manual lifts work fine.

My 147 has headlights and working electric lift. There should be some room to dicker especially if parts are not there.
Looking for pictures. Regards, Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
