Default New to me 149

I had been trying to buy this 149 since early spring but the owner got mad when I told him I would need a receipt. Then would not sell it. I stopped by at least 5 times during the summer but he still wouldn't sell. A week ago I asked my neighbor's Son if he would stop by where the Tractor is and see if the Man would sell it to him. He stopped by 3 different times but no one was home. He told his Dad about it and his Dad stopped by to see about it on his way home from work. I didn't know this was happening. As it turned out, he knew the man and he sold him the tractor. At 9:30 last night I heard a truck in front of my house. Couldn't tell who it it was. A few minutes later someone knocked at the front door and it was my neighbors wife. She said your equipment was here. I didn't know what she was talking about. The outside light came on when she came to the door. I looked out and there was the 149 on a trailer. I almost had a heart attack. It is in my garage and ready to be worked on. Rough shape and it will take a long time but I am ticked to death. Will try to attach pictures. Sorry for the long post.
Bob

Looks decent, always fun when you get a (new) cub. I asked for a receipt when I bought my 147 in April.

Default 149

Thanks for all the good wishes. I did not get a receipt from the original owner, but my neighbor wrote a note turning over full ownership of the tractor to me.
I have been cutting most of his grass for the last few years free of charge. He is a lot younger than me but has some health problems. I like to help my neighbors all I can. I finally got him to say what he paid for it. He got it for 50.00 because he knew the owner. I repaid him the money and said that his checking it out and delivering it was payment enough.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
