| 1210 doesn't cut after going into reverse

My apologies if this is already on here, but I couldn't find it. Once we disengage our LT 1210's PTO to go into reverse, when we then go back into a forward gear, the blades no longer cut. Unfortunately there are some sections of the yard where we have to use reverse. If we let the tractor sit for a while - at least 2 hours - then we can continue cutting. Any help with this is GREATLY appreciated - thank you in advance!

First, is the model on this tractor 1210 or LT1210..?? Next, if it is a 1210, there are three different Wiring Diagrams depending on the serial number (age) range. We would have to know the serial number so we can get to the right diagram and diagnose.

Yep it's a 1210. If I had to bet, my guess is that the field coil for the PTO has seen better days. This is a link to the Cub parts call out for your tractor. http://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/AR.../s/CUT/1210//1 Click on the 3rd one down from the top.

If it turns out that your PTO is done I highly recommend that you consider one of these conversion kits. Less $$$ and a better design. http://xtremeope.com/cub-cadet-717-3...FYEehgodG50HoQ

OK, I have looked at the Diagram for your model. I would suggest that you look at (A) the Reverse Switch, and/or (B) the Reverse Relay. I suspect, one of them is "hanging up". If you need assistance in diagnosing either of these devices, gives us a shout.

Check the pto air gap. My 1810 was having the same issue a few years ago, would not engage when engine was hot. I found the air gap was too large. I set the air gap to .015", no issues since. Here is the chassis service manual for your tractor: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=25397 The pto troubleshooting section is very good, easy to do if you are somewhat handy with a voltmeter. |

I'd say it's like my 1211. There's a safety switching the hydro lever for reverse. I can't tell you how I fixed it, but it mows in reverse now.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
