Ok guys here it goes. This is my first rebuild on any of my tractors as I like them original as much as possible. With that being said I did some horse trading to LiamD for a 128 w/no motor for a complete 124. I wanted a gear drive to put a k321 in for plowing and field work. Hence the name "148". The tractor had lots of problems from the PO. before LiamD.This is the first pic I got before the trac. was completely torn apart.

Taking it down to the frame is a great way to fix all the PO mods.

Looks like a cool project! I always wondered why they never made a gear drive 14 HP. I'm going to be following this thread, thinking a 146 would be cool

I just thought about that today. Why no 14 HP gear drive? Weird.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
