Default The QL1450 Has a Stuck Height Adjusting Knob!!

My new to me QL1450 has a stuck height adjusting knob!!

The bakelite black plastic knob on the right side of the frame.

Lots of PB Blaster, still no luck!!

The last stuck one I removed with a pair of bigAZZ pliers

http://www.channellock.com/480-BigAZ...Jaw-Plier.aspx

The plastic crumbled!!

Any non-crumbling loosening/removal concepts!!??

Try KROIL or a 50/50 solution of ATF and acetone.

Both penetract much better than PB Blaster.

You just got that tractor....Let the PB Blaster soak for a couple of days. Have patience! I had some relief valves that were stuck and I grew impatient with them until someone on the forum advised me to let them soak a couple of days. I did and they worked loose eventually. Haste makes waste.

Since you just got the tractor?

Any chance you have the deck down all the way on the stop and it's binding or loading the bolt?

Default PB and Patience

I'd give the PB some time... the strap wrench is a good idea, but if you've not given penetrating solvent enough times you'll likely strip the metal bolt out of the bakelite/plastic knob with the extra torque from the strap wrench.

Put a squirt of PB on it 2-3 times a day for 3-4 days and see what gives (literally)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
