Default Picked up a 63 Original

Hey all, been lurking for some time now, decided to post to spread the good news. I currently have a 73 108 thats third gen in my family now. My son is over the top into the cub cadet tractors so my father and I have been looking for one of his own, we found this Original in a trailer at a local farm. My dad picked it up friday. Its a 53,xxx serial number which put it early 63 m/y.

The thing is extremely clean and probably in running condition once we clean up the fuel system. My son was completely nuts over this thing friday, and showed everyone at my folks house sunday during the memorial day picnic they had. Oh the awesome bonding time we will have redoing this machine this coming winter. Will get some pictures up soon.

On a side note, I am trying to download the service manual from the tech section and I am not able to do so. It loads a blank page. The manual for my 108 loaded just fine though?????

Congrats on the Original and the smile on your son's face! Thanks for the pics too!

I checked both manuals and the links work for me. Here's the direct download. The one is large and might take your computer time to download it depending on internet speed.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
