Default CH18 carb. ?:

Choke will not open all the way. From the carb. breakdown it looks like the old bi-metal spring used on chokes back in the day. Does this spring heat up to open the choke all the way? Any help/ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Don B.

Don

The spring is supposed to allow the butterfly to open part way even if the choke is pulled out when you start it. Sounds like you have a problem with your linkage if it won't open all the way.

Sam Mac, Your are on it. It was the choke cable, pulled out of the anchor at the choke and throttle control ass'y. It was a real ball getting the ass'y out of the dash. Thank you for your reply. Don B.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
