Cool The 582

I was working this week in Allentown PA Saw this IH 582 yesterday on CL outside of Reading and went down there and picked it up on my way home.It has nice tins on, it except the hood,10.50 Goodyear's on the rear, and a 44c mower deck.Drove it around and the trans and clutch worked well but it Smokes,Smokes and Smokes,Not sure what I am going to do with it.I have a Mag 18 I could put in it,but I would have to make the driveline to fit it,Or I have a yellow 582 with a really good running briggs,Just drop it in and go, or pull the motor keep the deck and the ags and sell it as a roller.Decision decisions...

Default You lucky rascal

You might try some Marvel Mystery Oil in it. I am a strong believer in that stuff. It has kept me from having to replace an EGR valve in a Blazer for 4 or 5 years.

Good looking little tractor.

I don't think mmo is gonna help.I pulled the heads and there were some nice scratches in the bores. The clock on this was over 900 hrs...may not seem like much but his yard had a long hill to mow up and down, with a slight incline to the right.prolly starved the motor of oil also.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
