Default Question about Craigslist.

Hey how's it going everyone!!!!

Guys I have a question. Has anyone here ever sold something on Craigslist??? Reason I'm asking is due to the fact that I'm trying to sell a drum set of mine. And I'm thinking of posting it on Craigslist. I was just wondering if there's anything I should know before posting an item on there. You know like tips, advice, stuff like that. Thanks guys!!!

good morning Cub 61,

i post on craigslist all the time. it's really easy to do and makes selling things even easier. a few pointers would be not to overpost(your post will prbably get flagged and removed), i post about every other day. also you'll probably get alot of spam too or at least i do. don't ship an item to someone who is vague or talks in general.(like i'm interested in your item would you ship) trust me i get plently of those too. hope this helps.

Mike

Hey good morning Mike!!!! How are you this morning????

Hey Mike, thanks for the information. That really does help me out a whole bunch. Since it's my first time posting on there, I really need all the help and advice I can get. I don't want my post to get flagged. By the way Mike, you mentioned about over posting. Exactly what does that mean to over post??? And why will I be flagged and removed due to over posting???? Sorry for the questions Mike. I just want to get it right the first time. Thanks Mike!!!!

overposting is when someone post the same thing a couple times a day or the same the the very next day. well people flag something because they see the same the over and over that same day.

Oh ok. I get it now. So no over posting. Got it. One more question Mike. Is it safe to put your own phone number on there??? Or is it safer to just receive emails from potential buyers???

I put my phone number in there...in fact, that's how I prefer people contact me. You'll probably get a ton of spam and scams through the email part. Make sure you use the function on there that anonymizes (sp?) your email address.

Just post some good photos and never accept any check. You'll probably here from people saying " I normally only pay $50.00 for something like that." Yet they curiously have nothing to sell. :biggrin2.gif:

Hey good morning RPalmer!!!! How are you this morning????

Thanks for the info and the tips!!!! I really do appreciate it. I'm pretty sure I will have some people sending me messages like that.LOL By the way guys, I'd figured I would show you guys what I'm getting ready to sell. I need to sell off this drum set to make some room. I'm fixing to get into the DJ business and I need all the room I can get to make way for all the DJ equipment that I need.

Here are the pics:

I'm only asking $500.00 for the whole thing. Minus the 3 crash cymbals and the Double Bass Drum Pedal.

Beware the email that says "consider it sold. pull your ad. i will send you check for extra money."

Those are BS replies. Don't respond to the scammers!

ONLY take cash! Don't be afraid to run to the local liquor store (or wherever) and borrow their "pen" to check the $100 bills.

I've had a lot of good deals on CL. From both directions, buying and selling. I've also had scammers try to snag me. Plus, I had one guy who said he was going to buy and never ever came. I missed out on several possible sales because of that nut. It isn't sold until the cash is in your hand. Don't make promises to hold it for more than the time it should take the person to drive over. If someone is interested in looking tomorrow, take his number and if you sell it to someone else, call him up and say sorry.

Nice drum set. Good luck selling it!

Jim

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
