Default '61 CCO question

After thinking I ran the numbers on my O wrong for the last few weeks, I went and did it again. I keep getting that it's a Dec. 61 , but after seeing that it has no creeper hole, has the old style S/G and bracket, and also a small hitch hole, I know something is wrong, am I reading the right number? Im running the one on right side( sitting on tractor) on the reduction housing. It starting to bug me, only other thing I could think is it had a tras swap, but it doesn't look like it ever been changed

That's a late 61 or early 62. I'm not sure when they started to put the creeper holes in the frame. But the early parts don't really mean much. That's still within the first year of production.

Ben, the early SG brackets ran out before the creeper holes from what I've been told. When there was a problem tractor that failed post inspection they would roll those tractors to the side and finish them when they got the chance to. The serial numbes were the last thing to go on them before they shipped. It's very likely that yours got rolled to the side and got repaired at a later date. You have to keep in mind that they sold more tractors in the first year then they planned to sell total for production run. There were tons of changes thru out the production life.

What does your battery tie down look like?

Here's the batt tie down, just a normal tin one.

So I see. Ok next request. Does it have collard spindles? If so can you take a pic from the rear of the tractor to the front.

They are not and you don't have the thin front axle but those were recalled so it's not shocking that they are not on there.

Now comes the question did someone try to make a early 61 or is it a hold over from production problems.

Could you take a pic of the fins and spec and serial number of the motor. The motor might have been replaced but it's something to look at. Even after all of this we might never find out the real reasons for this to have signs of a early 61.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
