Gear boxes
I think the 90 degree gearbox that came on my snowblower is shot, as there is a lot of play in the gears. I am looking to replace it but It seems that the gearboxes for the tillers come up for sale way more often. Are they the same gearbox or is there some difference that would make it difficult to use a tiller gearbox on the snowblower?

NO....The gearboxes for the Snowthrower are different than for the Tiller. The tiller gearbox rotates much slower.

I just finish making a blower gear box into a tiller gear box . What I have learned from this is there are two different housings. One has four bolt holes and the other has three holes for mounting. The gear ratio for the blow is 2:1 and the tiller is 1.5:1 I had to swap the gears and will eventually be swapping the output shaft as it is shorter on the blower and the snap ring groove is too close to the end of the shaft for the pully to fit correctly. I have adjusted it so it will work but it isnt exactly right. The gears and shaves will not inner change from the three to four bolt cases . Hope this help if you have any questions just ask. One more thing I learned the hard way how not to remove the pullies they are cast and very brittle.
