Default The 582....
I picked this CCC 582 today.Serial # 711831.It runs but the input shaft for the gear reduction needs a new bearing or worse...Haven't looked too much into it but it looks like I have to split it to see whats going on in there.Runs well no smoke.It has 600 hrs on the clock.It came with a 44" mower deck and a crappy seat...

Duke, That is the bracket for a peco vac attachment.
Eric,
That's the one and it does have a cast rear in it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
