Default PTO question
Should a PTO non engaged move freely? Mine only turns with the motor by hand. Engaged or not.

When the pto is not engaged you should be able to turn the motor and the pto sits still. this is only true if it has a load on it like the mower deck, if there's nothing on the pto to create load it will spin with the motor even if its disengaged.

With the PTO disengaged (pressure applied to the center button), I can usually rotate the PTO pulley without causing the engine to rotate. There is some resistance from the button, but it still rotates without much force.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
