I've been looking for a diesel for a little bit now and I came across a 1782 today at at Cub Dealer about an hour from here. I took a trip and looked at it, ( i forgot to snap any pictures.. )
Its in fair condition... seems to run well.. 2xxx hours Its missing the side engine covers, no 3pt, no PTO and it has a worthless 48 deck on it... It also is missing the factory muffler and has a very ugly tractor supply muffler on it.. The dealer wants $1800 for it and I'm just wondering what you guys think of that price... I would like to find one a little nicer but this is also the only one I've found so far with in reasonable driving difference..

They're not giving it away! See if they can find or give you any deals on parts. Nice ride but I would keep searching unless you are very handy.

That 1572 is sweet. Parts can be found or made for them. The cyclops are nice too but have the typical problems. I found a 1782 near me and they want $3500 for it. No rear pto or 3 point but only has about 550 hours. I guess that's why it's still on the lot.

That is a nice looking 1572 and the price isn't too bad either.
Sounds like that 1782 is higher on price with all the things it needs. Keep your eyes peeled. Something will show up for you when you least expect it. Good luck with your search.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
