Somebody was talking about what to use a rear PTO for if they put it on a tractor.
I remembered the rig my brother in law built for feeding the cattle back in the 1950's. He took a car (I think it was a Model A truck possibly) rear end, kept the transmission, and powered the transmission with the PTO!! A four wheel drive rig!! It went right through the cattle lot mud carrying a load of hay like it was a summer drought!! All you would need is a trailer built out of a Cub Cadet differential, add a PTO shaft to power the transmission and go. Now all Duke has to do is figure which shaft to power on the input of the transmission!! Or maybe a Cub Cadet rear end with a plow on the sleeve hitch powered by the PTO. Four wheel drive plowing!! Then we would have fewer stuck tractor photos of Cub Cadets being rescued by Greene tractors!! ![]() ![]() |

Yea, been sittin' around too much. I have wanted a rear PTO since 1982, I even tracked down a couple, but, I have never figured out a use for it!!
![]() Maybe I will install 2 grain tanks so I can use the rear pto with an auger to transfer the corn between the two!! That is as good of an idea as I can come up with. |

If I get a rear PTO it would have to come with a PhD.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
