Im working on a friends Cub Cadet 2150. Ive recently replaced the battery and key switch. Detailed all grounds and checked the wiring. I can get it to crank but not fire. I was wondering if there was any way to diagnose the fuel pump? I can crank the engine and squirt starting fluid into the carb, the engine wants to fire but doesnt follow through.
![]() Are there other parts i need to check while im at it that could cause it not to run? Also he told me that the mower deck just quit working when it did run. How do i go about checking that as well, once i get it running again? Thanks for any help you can give guys! ![]()

1 remove the fuel line that goes from the pump to the carb. Turn it over it should pump fuel out. Yes? Go to carb, no remove the fuel line from the tank side of the pump. Do we have fuel running out of the tank? If yes, pump, If no, well Houston, we have a problem. There is a blockage from the tank to the pump. Now if the pump is pumping and it isnt geting threw the carb, we need to find out why. A little trick Ill do at work is, start with a dry plug, if your cranking the engine and it wont start, pull the plug, is it wet, if so you have a ing problem.
On the deck to check the pto provided all the wiring is good, sitting in the seat eng not running but the switch in the run position, pull the pto switch, did it click? If yes then theres a belt problem, if no, theres an electrical problem. Hope this gets you heading in the right direction. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
