I've used my 123 some, and noticed that although the hydro is strong and operates smoothly, the lever doesn't....and in fact sometimes hangs up and won't move.
The other issue is that the brakes (internal) don't work. I've been lookg at the manual and thte relatnship between the brake pedal and the transmission linkage and wonder if this is a usual issue with these tractors...? When I get some time, I'll get the thing up so that I can look at the linkage first, to make sure I don't see something obvious that is keeping the hydro lever from moving...but I know that when ot DOESN"T move, working the brake pedal often seems to free up the hydro lever to normal function. The brake doesn't work at all...goes to the floor with no braking action. ![]() Thanks for any hints... John |

When you press the brake pedal does hydro lever return to center? Is that when it doesn't move at all?

The I will have to check that... I don't recall and I'm not near the Cub right now. I do know when this happens the hydro control lever is impossible to move. I will have to get it "stuck" and then pay attention to the state of the brake pedal.

In the manual section It shows you how to adjust the internal brake,as to the hydro handle sticking,I would remove the battery and spray some brakee cleen down around by the hydro controls to remove any grit or dried up grease, the re lube it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
