Default 1450 Drive Shaft

I am confused about the drive shafts on 1450. If before a 6xxxxx serial no. I should have a 61125 shaft with only one disc at each end and a 5/8 ball in the flange drive at the hydrostat end. The newer models use no ball three discs and a different shaft 140079-c1. I have the older serial number with no ball and 3 discs. The discs were replaced by the PO. How can I tell the difference between the two shafts so I can install my shaft correctly? I got the 1450 running for the first time today and it shook bad. The PO had put on flat washers for the disc mount and they cut the filter. I am going to pull the engine and check the PO's work on the ISO mounts as they were new just before I bought it. So if anyone has measurements or identifying marks to tell the shafts apart I would really appreciate this info.
Thanks Ken

I actually had bookmarked it months ago. I'm planning on doing a Quietline drive line conversion (using 4 flex disks) in my 129....sometime.
Cheers

Thanks Ash for the info it was what I was looking for. I seems that I can mix and match as long as I don't put pressure on the the couplings. I was hoping that the shaft was the source of my vibration but it is in the engine. Possibly everything is normal but I seem to have more than my 127. I pulled the shaft and ran it this evening then took the new mounts apart to see if the PO had goofed but that was all ok so I am left with a shaking engine. I am going on two weeks vacation so I will decide what to do when I get back
Thanks again for the help
Ken

If you haven't done the engine mounts and the cradle mod, that's probably why it vibrates. Your engine mounts are shot.

I pulled the engine last night and removed the mounts to see if they were new like the PO said. They are new and assembled correctly. I also did the mod. The only thing that puzzled me was that there was no movement in the mount by hand pressure. The mounts really seem solid. Maybe a good thing but how do they absorb vibration. The rubber bumpers at the front also seem to be setup right. The PO got this part right. When I get back from 2 weeks vac. I will put the engine back in and will check the torque on the mounting bolts. Maybe the PO cranked them down too much. Will post then if still having trouble.
Thanks for the help
Ken

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
