Default field coils

Ok I think I Tim Alan'ed myself. I put 2 50 watt head lights' 2 grote tail lights and a 35 watt back up light in the 126. Assuming the tail lights only are 20 watts a piece. That means I am only pulling 14 amps with everything on. Is this why I'm burning up field coils in the starter generator? Does anyone know where to get new field coils?

Check with a local alternator/ starter repair shop, I would think they should be able to fix you up, the S/G are made by Delco Remy, same as used in GM autos/ trucks. They may or may not have them in stock, but should be able to get them.

Sorry none of the starter/alternator shops around here know anything about starter generators. Looking for an online source.

I agree with that. These are not that uncommon. a lot of starters for GM used the same setup.

The starter/generator output is 15 amps...you've got 14.6 with your numbers. I don't think running it at full output all the time is a great idea. 50W headlights seems a bit excessive...35W headlights have never been too little for any of mine.

animal I would be more concerned in reducing my amp draw or just keep burning up field coils. You will eventually smoke the new field coils. Just might take a little longer.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
