Default 104? Not sure what I got!

Hello I am new to this forum deal, I usually find some rough cub cadets and use them for pulling tractors, but since have gotten a few pretty good ones and thinking about redoing them one is a very straight 71 model, another is a narrow frame with quick tach mounts on front and the smaller square fenders, i believe it to be a 104 that has had a 12hp engine installed. It has creeper and rear pto with an extra box on the back that looks to be some kind of convertor with a 540 style shaft out of it. It has been painted a real ugly green or something so no decals are visible could look up serial numbers but thought try this first to maybe hear from some of you cub experts. Thanks

Post your serial number on here, Dwayne (DX3) has a file that he can use to look up what model it is via the serial number, I am just barely smart enough to find out when it was made. Pics would help a lot too!

We don't mind pics of ugly tractors either!

Default Dwayne will have the best info.

Dwayne's serial number info. is better than any I found in books or other webs. I'm confident he can help if you have the number.
Thanks Dwayne for doing what you do.

Pics are nice we love them! It sounds like a rare cub with the rear pto. The thing i think you is the power box to convert the pto from 515rpm to 540rpm for brush hogs and things that run off the pto.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
