I got a 100 a while back and decided to do a complete tear down and rebuild. This is a first for me and I wanted to do it for a learning experince as much as I want a nice cub at the end.I decided to try the electrolysis process that I saw another member do so I put together a few things and started useing it.It works great...slow process usually takes a day or so to get it completely clean but still beats grinding and sanding.Anyway like I said I'm just getting started and already a have a few parts with the first coat of primer on them.

Looks good so far!! Well, I was going to recommend that you video tape tearing down your cub so that you know how things go back together (some find this very helpful), just in case you forget......but it looks like I'm a little late for that.

electrolysis is awesome, what size charger do you have hooked up to it and did you adjust the quantity of the baking powder to the larger amount of water? Eventually I'm going to rig up at least a 50 gal container so I can put larger parts in. Right now I'm going the larger rubbermaid tote route.

Gary,
I'm currently useing a small 6v 6 amp. battery charger thats really too small. The more amps the better from what I read...I've read some people are useing a DC power source like an stick welder...just make sure its DC whatever you use.I used a Lye solution 1/2 cup per 5 gals. of water...seems to work pretty well. |

Is it hard to get rid of the solution once it is spent?

I work in a metal manufactureing plant and I talked with our waste treatment guy before I started with this process. He told me that as long as I strain the water and dry the contents I can bag the waste and throw it away then just flush the solution down the toilet since its basically drain cleaner anyway.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
