The K321AQS on my 1450 seems to start racing after warming up. The RPMs jump way up (I don't have a tach so I'm not sure how high). I've adjusted my carb (back to and tried to adjust the governor (both the shaft and the linkage) but it still does this.
It may be unrelated but it seems to have happened after I 'Sea Foamed' the gas. Any thoughts about what could be causing the high RPMs and how I can fix this? |

Do you still have Sea Foam in your gas or is it fresh?

One of my 129's did that, too. It was the two mounts for the rod that held the float in the carb had cracked, not allowing the float to actuate so I had to buy a new carb body to fix it. Your problem might be different, but that was my situation and thought that it might help you out.

I guess the first thing I would do is lose the gas treated with seafoam. I have heard a lot of bad stuff about seafoam. I would start with fresh gas and try resetting the gov per the Kohler manual. If that does not help then it sounds like your gov gear or cross shaft has bit the bullet meaning a tear down is in the near future. I hope that is not the case. The only additive I use in my gas is Stabil. Gas goes bad pretty quick any more. Good luck Kelly

Kohler does not want the small motor owner to use additives in the fuel.
Sea Foam is an additive. |

I had the same problem with my 1650 and had to replace the governor shaft. I never really cared for the "Quietline" tractors. They always vibrate alot even after replacing motor mounts which seems like always. I ended up fixing my governor and traded that 1650 for a yellow and white 782. Good Luck.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
